  Ainsworth Lumber's compassionate work environment created a “zero tolerance for injuries culture” which boosted productivity. Production increased from 340 million square feet of board in 1994 to 430 million square feet in 2003—exceeding design expectations for the machines. Lost time accidents were reduced as well from 75 in 1992 to 10 in 2003.
